It's safe to say that I won't be buying any more of these Bowie represses, which is a shame as I wanted to add a few to my collection. It's going back tomorrow. When the artwork is used for a lot of albums to create the LP version, they sometimes use the digital version...it’s happened on many occasions. I played it twice and then decided I couldn't live with it, and ordered another copy, this time the DBZSLP 40 version, with the DVD-A. I guess the pressing plant screwed up an entire batch of Bowie records. I can't imagine a 1E 1E sounding any better to any given set of ears. And I’ve heard quite a few pressings. I'm not used to Optimal Media GmbH media manufacturer, but I assume they are usually good since they press a lot of records in Germany.Like I said in my first review, it's one of the most quiet record I buy recently, my second copy is dead quiet as well, but the first copy I receive was wrapped a little bit but not to the point of affecting the sound. One of my best albums in the collection. In my case it is a "click" just as the fade-in of "Five Years" starts. 'Star' also has numerous skips on my copy. My copy sounds amazing, with no defects. Weird that one song would be affected. I took my original copy back to the store in which I purchased it. 'Star' is completely unlistenable on this pressing - I went as far as to take my copy back to the store and swap it out, only to have the exact same skips on the second copy. My version on Man Who Sold the World is excellent. This has been going on since the start sadly. It is possible to discern a large rectangular cover over, on which the UK details are placed on top of. Of course, I don't blame Parlophone records, who is a part of the EMI Group, for their work since they did an amazing work with this release, at least for the transfers of the analog tapes and the remastering. With this release, I can say that I hear for the first time the real mix as it was release back then. Maybe I got lucky, but my copy sounds great. Can anyone point me to which version this is? It says 2012 digital remaster. Putting this on a turntable instead of playing it through an IPOD or on CD is a must to get a real appreciation of the 'White Duke' at his very best. For the reviewer who complain about the Parlophone records company , I just read all his reviews and it's always the same (cut and paste) and all about Parlophone records so don't bother about it.Don't fear to buy this record, it's not a perfect product, but it's much better than some other rereleases I buy in the last year. In between, you’ll hear some of rock’s most iconic musical flourishes, including the Morse code that ushers in “Starman”’s heart-swelling chorus, “Ziggy Stardust”’s serrated guitar riff and Mick Ronson’s extraordinary solo on “Moonage Daydream”. I immediately went searching for more to add to my collection. Great pressing, no surface noise at all on mine, quite nice dynamics in all songs. Do you think this one might sound better? Mine skips on Star also. Do you happen to have a link or address where I can do the same. I have a copy of INTS 5063 with runout on side A edged with the Phrase 'CHRISTMAS 81' FROM JANE'. It's a quiet one, some minor pops and clicks here and there but nothing too serious. I always clean my needle after each side of a record I play, also the needle I use (Audio Technica AT440MLb) always track very well all my records, even the old ones.I tried to clean only that song of the record with an old rca diswasher D4 brush (not the new model who worth nothing) but the Z distortion sound stay there. I have the limited Gold pressing. It's also your best option since the Bowie records price increase insanely since his death. Luckily that’s my least favorite song on the album, but still.... also had a small skip on the first chorus of hang on to yourself. I returned my first copy because of the defects of the vinyl and still waiting for the new one to come. maybe it was just some pressings that had problems. Other than that it sounds fantastic. All 3 have been skipping in the same spot on Star. I may just slightly prefer the older issue, but this one sounds very good. Returning a second copy of this. "Star" skips throughout the song with no visible scratches on the vinyl. They exchanged it for another copy. No adjustments will fix the skips in that song. The start of the first chorus in it ain't easy :( sending it back, hoping 3rd time lucky. The cassette itself is the orange background with black text which is found on other versions. In other words it is very dynamic. It occur only at one place on this record and is not there in my other copy. Very disappointed. Wow this reissue is apparently cursed. I haven't had the problem since playing it on my SL 1700 though. Everything is crystal clear and crispy sounding. Mine's very good, sounds great. Classic album in a reissue that sounds good. Look like the take a CD booklet and zoom in on the image. I had the same problem. "Amhet Ertegun at Atlantic heard the album (which Eddie demanded be as hot as possible) and apparently it skipped on his daughters little turntable. But please note, this version of the reissue has a mould SID code (ifpi code). Well I don't know about the rest of you all, but mine sounds immaculate. Going to return it also and buy a different version. The front sleeve is blurry and the colors are not very good compare with my early 80's copie. The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars is the fifth studio album by David Bowie, which is loosely based on a story of a fictional rock star named Ziggy Stardust.Rhino will be breaking out ‘breaking out’ this albums from the David Bowie ‘Five Years 1969 – 1973’ box as a standalone releases. Solid pressing. I can't find it. Pick this up while they are still cheap. I had no issues with skipping or noise on side 2 as some others seem to have. Such a classic album. The problem most likely has to do with your set up. The interior is slightly different and doesn't have the photo of Bowie on the reverse side. The transfer is apparently made from the original analogue master tape and I must say that I'm very impressed by the quality of the separation of the channel and how good the instruments sound. Same skips. Sounds just great. I see you've sent multiple copies "back". Either your tone arm isn't set up properly, or you need to upgrade your set up. today buy the disc and returned it because in the back of it said "DIGITAL REMASTERED"I appreciate your help .... :). :DPeople complained about track B2 skipping too much, but that wasn't the case for me. Same here - sounds great! Currently, I have six of these reissues and haven't been disappointed yet. I own 9 pressings of this, one being an OG 1E 2E UK copy. My record player perfectly :-). I may return my copy for the 2 main defects I mention above but it's already back order and the next batch will not be available before 1-2 months. Skips abound (similar to those saying B2 skipped). Unfortunately, the record had to be remastered because people with budget turntables were experiencing skipping problems. Rock n roll suicide is a masterpiece. Identifying features include Titanic Music publishing credit and no Mainman logo on the back of the sleeve. :/. If it were a set up problem its impossible that we would all be picking up the same jumps in the same place on Star. Look for lines that break./ not continuous. The clerk and I then played every copy in the store that they had. Bowie's best work has been what he's put out with Mick Ronson in the fold and this is just a gem of an album. Go for it! I use a brand new Fluance RT-81 table with a Linn K5 cartridge and stylus properly set up and calibrated. Again, the vinyl itself is quiet dead! Mine skipped there also, as well as all the way through star, Am I the only lucky enough person who got a PERFECT copy of this re-release? Even download a rip from a first uk pressing and it sound not as good as this one. Same song, same spot. Copies go for thousands of dollars. It's reassuring to hear that other listeners are having the same problem as myself, and with the exact same song. I just brought a copy home from Barnes and Noble. Just cracked the seal on mine and it starts skipping on track 1 of side 2. I have none of these issues on my set up. It's a lot distracting for me and my poor ears. Took about 30 seconds to play the entire song my first time through because of how many skips . Does anybody know which release this is ? Also the back cover is worse than the front. People with budget turntables such as Crosleys or Victorolas will have issues (or people with improperly adjusted tone arms). So far no luck. I was thinking of buying a second copy but maybe I will look for an older copy instead. I will be returning this also. You have to be lucky to find an used NM- or VG+ of the original UK copy for a decent price. Includes printed lyric inner. The talking heads record "speaking in tongues" by rhino is also very hot cut and sounds great, but may reviewers on amazon complain of skips on "burning down the house". Can't wait for the reissues of Low and Heroes. UPDATE: Cleaned record a second time on the Okki Nokki, and then continued to play through "Star" about 5 times while very lightly dusting with Audioquest carbon fiber brush and POOF!
